25 November 2009
Electric Eric is a new biography on the highly respected Tasmanian Premier, Eric Reece, to be launched later this week in Hobart.
Eric Reece worked at the Mount Lyell copper mine where he joined the Australian Workers' Union.
In 1935 Eric became an AWU organiser for the West Coast District and worked for AWU members as a union organiser for more than a decade.
The future Premier - who was famous for riding his motorbike around the West Coast meeting AWU members - established the first branch of the Australian Labor Party at Queenstown and attended ALP state conferences as an AWU delegate.
